Manipulating the Audience's Emotions with Colour

I thought this would be an interesting blog as now I have a good understanding of how producers use different colour filters to get across different emotions to the audience. I could try and use colours to manipulate the audience's emotions in my horror scene, but rather than using filters I think I will do it by using different clothing colours, as that is a more budget-friendly option. The thing I found most interesting was that one colour used in different genres can be intrurpurated to mean differnt things, im also intrested to experament with colour to create a quick understandinbg of charactor. For example propp's antagonist in a horror is likely to include a blood-red colour and is steriosipacly dressed in dark colours to connect there dark intentions, having explored colour in this blog however I have inflected in an antagonist in films I have studied and read my self and it had made me look at them differently, for example, Pennywise in the new addition of 'IT' uses white when stereotypically white is used to show innocence but the director has tuned this interpretation on its head, the white in this instance reflects how he targets the innocence rather than being targeted himself, even though the main colour is white on him the part that shows his true evil is when they use the strong reds that contrast with the white as red is seen to show danger. What this blog has helped me to appreciate is that colour can conform to the convention by enhancing understanding and meaning but can also be used to challenge audience expectation creating a USP.
